The iPhone app Handy Light can be used to tether your iPhone to your laptop/desktop computer that can create an ad-hoc network. The app was on the App Store for a few hours and was created by the developer named Nick Lee. Apple removed it after many articles and videos had been posted about it. For the lucky few who grabbed the app from Apple before they had time to take it away from you, here's some instructions for getting your iPhone's internet connection shared with your computer.

For me, it didn't work on Firefox. I'm not sure how to resolve the issues but if you do then go ahead and leave a comment about the fix. I think it has to do with the connection settings within Firefox. Also, one user said that he got it to work once he changed both the IP addresses to 13.37.13.36. Try that if you are having issues.
